Introduction
Core Facility for Cell biology at Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB) was set up at July, 2004 and started running from 1st January, 2005. The facility is dedicated to providing high quality technical supports and services in the areas of cell morphology analysis, flow cytometry and cell sorting to all research groups. It also offers services for Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other research institutes around China.
The facility invites technical supporting advisory group of SIBCB and application scientists from related equipment companies to provide technical guidance. The facility provides the following three aspects of services:
1. Cell imaging in optical microscopy;
2. Cell analysis and cell sorting;
3. Electron microscopy imaging.
Instruments
Including fluorescence microscopy, laser scanning confocal microscopy, living cell microscopy, spinning disk confocal microscopy, cryostat microtome etc., Transmission Electron microscopy, Scanning Electron microscopy, and flow cytometry. All instruments are open for trained users all day.
Training
The facility provides training opportunities at times and offers guidance of equipment. It also provides equipment and technical guidance for sample preparation and offers most used reagents and consumables.
Equipment demonstration
The facility also providing exhibition, trial and feedback for advanced equipment in the fields of cell biology. The facility holds technology seminar and promotes advanced technology and methods.
