MAX PLANCK SOCIETY-CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES JUNIOR GROUPS EVALUATION

On May 27, 2004, the Max Planck Society (MPS) and Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) jointly organized the middle term evaluation for the MPS-CAS junior scientist group leaders, Dr. Guoliang XU (IBCB, SIBS, CAS), Dr. Jinqiu Zhou (IBCB, SIBS,CAS), and Dr. Wen Wang (KIZ,CAS).

The evaluation commission members werecomposed by the experts from Max Planck Society, Chinese Academy of Sciences,and the universities of Germany, China and USA.

The president of Max Planck Society, Prof. Peter Gruss, vice president of MPS, Prof.Herbert Jäeckle, and Dr. Barbara Spielmann, project manager of Asia Affairs of MPS were present at the evaluation. From Chinese side, the vice director of International Cooperation Bureau of CAS, Mr. Minyi Ge, the project manager of International Cooperation Bureau of CAS, Mr. Qiang Fang, and SIBS president, Prof. Gang Pei, vice president, Mr. Rongxin Gan and Prof. Wolfgang Hennig, IBCB executive director, Prof. Lin Li, and KIZ director, Prof. Weizhi Ji, also attended the evaluation.

The Prof. Herbert Jäeckle and Prof. Gang Pei made a short speech in the beginning to address the importance of scientific evaluation and the friendship between CAS and MPS. The evaluation procedure commemorated the cooperation both IBCB, SIBS and CAS with MPS.
