THE FIRST SYMPOSIUM ON SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION AND CANCER

On August 29, the first Shanghai Symposium on Signal transduction and Cancer was held in Shanghai Institutes for biological Sciences. Professor Lin LI, director of the Institute of Biochemistry and cell Biology made a warm welcome speech for the arrival of his counterparts home and abroad. The representative of Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality delivered an opening speech on behalf of the director of the Commission, Professor Yiping LI. Held jointly by the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, SIBS, CAS (China), National Institute of Cancer (USA) and Ben May Institute for Cancer Research of Chicago University (USA), the symposium is a great success. The four-day symposium invited 24 international and 9 domestic outstanding scientists to present their exciting research work. Professor Michael Karin, university of San Diego, USA, was invited as a keynote speaker.
There was also a poster communion during the session. Professor Gang PEI, president of Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, made the closing address on the farewell banquet and wished “Shanghai Symposium" to become a well-known symposium series in the future.
