12th East Asia Joint Symposium on Biomedical Research / the 4th Across Strait symposium on Biomedical Research was successfully held on Nov. 20-23, 2005 at Shao Xing city, Zhejiang Province. Simultaneously, 80 participants from six core Institutes convened together at Shao Xing Hotel. 25 lectures presented by professors or PIs and beside poster presentations 26 graduate students and post-doctors had a 5 min oral presentation. The symposium was well done on sharing the research experiences, and showing the novel research achievements in their research. Three prizes were selected from the students’ presentation for their excellent performance. The first prize was going to Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Seoul, Dr. Kyung Uk Hong. The second was going to Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, SIBS, CAS, Ms. Ying-ying Jia. The third one was going to Institute for Virus Research, Kyoto, Mr. Shin-ichi Oka.
During the symposium, the president of A-IMBN, Prof. Jeongbin Yim and director of IBCB, Prof. Lin Li signed the A-IMBN and IBCB professorship agreement. The agreement will support 500 thousand US dollar for 5 years term for supporting the two new recruited research group leaders in IBCB. The program in IBCB will start in 2006.
