Ms. Jing-Yu Li Won the First Class Prize in the 13th East Asia Joint Symposium

The 13th East Asia Joint Symposium on Biomedical Research was held by Seoul National University in Korea from July 17 to 21, 2006. IBCB send a 13 people delegation, including 6 students and 6 PIs headed by deputy director, Prof. Xue-liang Zhu and the formal deputy director, Prof. Zu-xun Gong to participate this symposium.
The first East Asia Symposium was held in 1993. IBCB started to join this symposium in 2000 and the 12th symposium was hosted in China by our institute. Now six member institutes participate each year. As usually, in this symposium totally 27 faculty members gave oral presentations and 27 graduate students gave both 5 min. oral presentations and poster presentations to demonstrate the recent progress in their research works. Ms. Jing-yu Li, the student of Prof. Guo-liang Xu from our institute won the first class prize, a valued $5000 centrifuge donated by Tomy Digital Biology Company due to her good research work, good English and actively raising the questions during the meeting. This is the second time IBCB´s student wins the first class prize in East Asia Symposium. Another winner was Ms. Jing Guo in 2004, student of Prof. Xue-liang Zhu.
The East Asia Symposium not only provides the opportunity for PIs and students from six leading institute in this region to show their research works, it, as a joint annual meeting of these institutes also promotes the collaborations and exchanges of scientific ideas between PIs.
