Prof. James Watson visited SIBCB

On April 9, 2010, Prof. James Watson, the founder of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, visited the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB). James Waston, the best known as one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA, is a world-renowned Nobel Prize Laureate who specializes in molecular biology.
 
During his visit, Prof. Jinqiu Zhou, the director assistant of SIBCB, briefly introduced the institution. Prof. Guoliang Xu and Prof. Baoliang Song presented their research interests and achievements.
 
Prof. Waston has paid many visits to China in recently years, and he concerned about the China’s growing development in life sciences. In his talks, he suggested that the institute should be more concentrate on the translational research, and focus on particular diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
 
After the meeting, Prof. Watson presented flowers to the bronze status of Prof. Yinglai Wang.
