SIBCB Conveys Award to CAS Visiting Professor and Guest Professor of SIBCB

On September 10th, the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB) named the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) Visiting Professorship in honor of Prof. Gilbert Eriani, and Prof. Ya-Ming Hou was conferred the Guest Professorship of SIBCB.

 

The award ceremony started at 9:30, with a short speech given by the executive director of SIBCB, Prof. Naihe Jing, who presented the certificates thereafter.

 

Prof. Gilbert Eriani, one of the leading researchers in the field of tRNA studies, now works at French National Center for Scientific Research, where he is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology. For over 18 years, Prof. Gilbert has been collaborated with Prof. Enduo Wang’s group (SIBCB) for research studies which was long and fruitful.

 

Prof. Ya-Ming Hou works in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Thomas Jefferson University, USA since 2003. She has made major contributions to understand tRNA structure, function, enzymology, and biology in cells. She is also an expertise in tRNA and tRNA-protein interactions. Prof. Ya-Ming Hou expressed her determination and expectation for the fruitful cooperation with SIBCB on the research work in the future. She said she would use her experience in USA and in China to make a positive impact to the Chinese education system, to help train students and young generations of scientists, and to bring Science in SIBCB to the forefront of the world stage.
