SIBCB and YCB/YSCC held a mini symposium and signed a MoU

On December 11th 2012, a scientific delegation from Yale Cell Biology (YCB) and Yale Stem Cell Center (YSCC) visited Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB). They had productive communication with SIBCB people and took a tour around the institute facilities. During the visit, scientists from Yale and SIBCB held a joint mini symposium. Later, SIBCB leaders exchanged views with YCB/YSCC delegation on further developing bilateral ties between the research institutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for the framework of collaboration between SIBCB and YCB/YSCC, which indicated the deeply potential interactions on academic communications, research collaborations and scientist/student training opportunities.
 
On the communication meeting in the morning, Dr. Anning Lin, the director of SIBCB, first gave a brief introduction on SIBCB’s history, developments and recent achievements. Then, Dr. James E. Rothman, the chairman of YCB, introduced the profile of department of Cell Biology. And Dr. Haifan Lin, the director of YSCC, introduced Yale Stem Cell Center. Later, the Yale delegation, accompanied by SIBCB leaders, visited Core Facility for Molecular Biology and Core Facility for Cell Biology.
 
In the afternoon, Dr. James E. Rothman (Yale), Dr. Guoliang Xu (SIBCB), Dr. Haifan Lin (Yale), Dr. Jinsong Li (SIBCB), Dr. Christopher Burd (Yale) and Dr. Baoliang Song (SIBCB) presented their scientific work on a mini-symposium. Based on the discussion of the framework of collaboration between SIBCB and YCB/YSCC, YCB/YSCC delegation and SIBCB leaders signed an official MoU and agreed to explore new opportunities in regular academic exchange, research collaboration, postdoc training and graduate education.
