2013 SIBCB-U of T Symposium on Stem Cells Development and Disease

In order to promote the stem cell research and enhance the friendship and understanding between the two sides, Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dept. of Molecular Genetics & the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto organized a joint symposium on Stem Cells Development and Disease on Oct 10th-11th, 2013.

Dr. Naihe Jing, the deputy director of SIBCB, hosted the symposium as the chair. Around 18 speakers presented their scientific work on “Stem Cells in Development and Disease” and “Novel Approaches and Techniques”. Dr. Janet Rossant from the University of Toronto, a Fellow of both the Royal Societies of London and Canada and a Foreign Associate to the National Academy of Science, gave a keynote speech named “Stem cell from the mammalian blastocyse- how similar are mouse and human?” to the audience.
