SIBCB Delegation Attends The 16th AIMBN Conference in Singapore

On Dec 2-5, 2013, the 16th AIMBN conference completed in Singapore. The conference was organized by 5 institutes of A*STAR Singapore. Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB) has 6 people participated in the conference.

Mr. LIM Chuan Poh, The chairman of A*STAR; Prof. YIM Jeongbin, the president of AIMBN and Prof. LEPTIN Maria, the new director of EMBO delivered the opening speeches.

The conference was composed of four topics:Cancer and Basic Biology, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Molecular and Cell Biology, and Metabolic and Infectious Diseases. The participants, totally around 200, came from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, mainland China, Hong Kang, Taiwan, the Philippines, and the other Asian-Pacific regions. Scientists from US, Germany and Australia were also invited.

The conference invited SIBCB professors to deliver their most recent researches. Prof. SONG Baoliang’s excellent work on Mechanism of Intestinal Cholesterol Absorption received the compliment of the 2014 AIMBN Arthur Kornberg award.

The conference mostly embodies the current research level in those fields of Asian. It not only makes the participants get known to each other’s work, but also improves the mutual cooperation in the future.
