The Sixth International Conference on the Epididymis (Epididymis VI) was held between Oct 31 and Nov 3, 2014, Shanghai, China. The topic of Epididymis VI is "Networks in Epididymis Basic and Clinic Research".
The meeting started with a welcoming and opening speech given by ZHANG Yonglian (Chairman,China) and was followed by 9 sessions of 3 to 6 presentations each in which various aspects of epididymal physiology were covered: With venerable pioneers eyes to look at the epididymis; Epididymal development and dysgenesis; Epididymal epithelial cell biology, fluid formation and composition; The roles of the epididymis in sperm maturation, protection and storage; Regulatory mechanisms of temporal and special gene expression in the epididymis; Epididymal diseases; Variety of research approaches in epididymis. A session was also devoted to presentations given by young investigators who were selected from the 45 abstracts received. The last session of the program was devoted to panel discussion. In addition, poster sessions and free communications are also important themes in the program. The final summary and closing remarks was given by WANG Yifei (Co-chairman, China) on Nov 3.
About 100 representatives from 12 countries attended the Epididymis VI, which was hosted by State Key Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Molecular Andrology, Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (SIBCB), Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Started from 1990’s and was held every four years, Epiddymis conference is a leading international scientific conference on epididymis research area. The Program Organizing Committee is under the guidance of Scientific Committee.
