On March 23rd, 2015, Prof. Ivan Dikic was invited to lecture on his interesting work entitled ‘Ubiquitin and Autophagy networks in Health and Disease’ at SIBCB. Dr. Dikic is a member of Croatian Academy of Medical Science, and the director of Institute of Biochemistry 2, Goethe University School of Medicine Frankfurt in Germany. More than 200 graduated students and scientific researchers participated in the lecture.
Dr. Dikic is one of the world’s leading researchers in the fields of molecular oncology and cellular signaling. His research focuses on how ubiquitin pathways regulate cellular processes, such as receptor-mediated endocytosis, immune responses, DNA repair, proteasomal degradation and more recently on molecular basis of selective autophagy. His discovery of a new type of ubiquitin receptor, RPn13, and described in detail of its structure and function, made essential contributions to the understanding of fundamental cellular processes. His scientific contributions are of great importance for medicine development in a wide variety of illnesses.
